MHS Memorial Field Project 2010 Overview
Project Description: A multi-purpose field at Mamaroneck High School’s Memorial Field
to be used for District athletic games and practices, Physical Education classes, and available for community use when not being used by the schools.
What will Project 2010 include?
•New 370’ x 200’ multi-sport all-weather playing field (The field will NOT use crumb rubber infill made from recycled tires, nor any products with lead. Recent NY State study confirmed safety of turf.)
•Site demolition, excavation, preparation (Site will be re-oriented and prepped to accommodate lights and track later.)
•State-of-the-art field drainage system (No more rainouts on sunny days!)
•NY State-approved storm water management system (Currently there is no storm water management at the site.)
•New ADA-compliant bleachers to accommodate 500 people (These temporary stands can be moved to the visitors’ side and replaced with larger stands in the future.)
When will it be ready for play? Fall 2010
Where are the funds for Project 2010 coming from?

$ 500,000 from Mamk School District (earmarked in 2004 for MHS field work)

$ 250,000 from NY State Assembly Legislative Grant (Thank you George Latimer!)

$ 100,000 from Larchmont Junior Soccer League

$ 50,000 from Larchmont Mamaroneck Youth Lacrosse

$ 465,000 from Fields for Kids fundraising effort (We need your support!)

What if we raise more money?
The more we raise, the sooner the district can implement all phases of the field plan:
•State-of-the-art precision lights (We can extend usage and have evening events!)
•Large ADA-compliant s home-field bleachers (No more fiberglass splinters!) with structures for storage, press box, restrooms, concessions
•A regulation-size oval running track around the field (We can finally host real track meets and have an accessible, well-lit place for the community to exercise.)
