Project Update — Summer, 2008

FIRST FUNDRAISING EFFORT NEARS GOAL

Fields for Kids agreed to raise $1.5 million toward the Flint and Lorenzen Park Renovations.  To date we have raised $1.48 million!  Thank you to our many contributors.  If you haven’t made a donation yet and would like to help us cross the goal line, click here.

LEARN ABOUT FIELDS & BONDS

Do you find all the talk about school budgets and school bonds confusing? We’ve been getting a lot of questions, so we’ve created a page to help make a few things clearer — just click for the answers:

  1. •What is the difference between a school bond and a school budget — and where do fields fit in?

  2. •When was our last bond?

  3. •Why are we asking for help now?

WORK CONTINUES AT FLINT PARK — The Turf Field Opens!

Construction crews have been busy for months at Flint, implementing the Renovation Plan. The nature paths along the water are now open to the public.  The large baseball field at the back of the park is getting a much-needed overhaul.  And the new artificial turf field is already in use.  All of the fields will be renovated in phases. Click here for more details about the project.

SCHOOL DISTRICT PLANS DRAW ENTHUSIASM

The school district has proposed a field renovation plan that would increase field capacity at the high school campus significantly. “Plan C,” supported by the School Board, includes a new oval track around Memorial Field; the track around Manchester baseball field would be eliminated to make room for an additional all-purpose field.  For more info, click here.
